Reallocated sectors - Bad drive?
I have two ReadyNas Pro 4's, each with 3x 2TB Seagate Baracuddas.
NAS1 - ONCE claimed that disk1 was dead, I restarted the NAS and it came back and resync'd fine. It has not happened again in months. Is this okay????
NAS2 - Disk 2 has continuously reported sectors needing reallocation and is a sign of a bad drive.
Then one day disk1 was reported dead. Restarted, and it came back and resync'd fine. Then it happened again twice more.
I replaced Disk 1
soon after it was syncd, Disk 3 started reporting sectors needing reallocation.
I replaced Disk 2 (had a lot of reallocated sectors) and it is currently syncing.
But, NAS2 has now complained about all three original drives at one time or another. This makes me VERY suspicious that the issue is more likely the NAS rather than three separate disk drives.
Since I was buying some new replacement drives, I also bought a couple extra and have expanded the NAS's to 4x 2TB drives now.
Should I be suspicious of the NAS2? Can I get it replaced if needed to rule it out after replacing all my drives?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI suspect the reallocated sectors are real, and that the drive 1 in both NAS are ok (assuming healthy SMART stats). What are the specific models and drive firmware?
Try testing the disk 2 and disk 3 with seatools on a PC, and see what that says.
