RECOMMENDED Hard Disks for ReadyNAS Duo v2
Hello,
I have discovered the HCL, but does anyone actually have a RECOMMENDATION for hard disks they have used with the ReadyNAS Duo v2 which they are actually happy with ? (please note this must be for v2).
I think I have already made a mistake by buying 2 of the Seagate ST2000DL003 (2TB) which is on the HCL for the Duo, but not for the Duo v2.
(the net result is that I only have 8GB of storage, and no "volumes" visible on the "system" tab !)
An actual recommendation would be very helpful as I don't want to waste any further money by purchasing a disk on the HCL which may have issues.
Thanks in advance for not ignoring this post from a clueless novice to ReadyNAS ;-)

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNo need for several threads. One is enough. I'd recommend the Hitachis from the compatibility list.
- ReadySECUREApprenticeI believe that this is a matter of personal preference, honestly. Normally I would recommend Western Digital drives due to the reliability I have experienced, and manufacturer warranty.
- thepupAspirantThanks for the responses mdgm and readysecure.
mdgm, point taken - I'll avoid multiple threads in future. My first posting on the topic (which was my response to someone else having a problem with installing 2 x 2TB drives a Duo v2) was completely ignored, so I ended up trying other categories. - thepupAspirantI initially failed to install 2 of these drives in my Duo v2 using XRAID 2.
However, the following sequence worked:
. Reboot (factory settings) - see p17 of Hardware Manual
. Launch Raidar, and select Flex-Raid, Raid 1
. Volume C is created, with 1841 GB :-)
[please excuse multiple follow-ups to my earlier multiple-threads, but I wanted to spread the word. I am so relieved not to have wasted my money on un-usable drives !]
