Remote use of ReadyApp client for PC

Hi

I am using a ReadyNAS 516 6-BAY Firmware 6.5.0 and I have migrated to the new single logon. I have it connected to a Virgin Media Super hub 2 and My PC runs Win 7 ultimate.

I have installed the ReadyApp client for  my PC and works fine. I can aslo conect remotley via the web using readycloud.

I am at the moment working away from home. I can connect to my server remotley via the web using readycloud on my works PC which also runs Win 7.

I have also installed the ReadyApp client on my works PC but I can not get it to work. I just get message readyCLOUD server is unavailable when i try to sign in. (Is this app only designed to be used on PC on the same network as the server)

I should note my IOS Apps can connect OK via wifi either at home or at work

regards

    Hi mediasurfer,

Does your PC user account have full admin rights? It's possible that the app is being blocked by a firewall or was installed but not fully functioning because of user restriction.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi

I guess that will be the top and bottom of it. I am in the local administrator group on the PC but there is UAC (user application controll) running. Having said that the program
Installed with no errors and I was able to put my User/pw in the proxy settings. There will of course be firewalls, but I have no problems using the web portal?

      Hello mediasurfer,

Using the web portal is easier as that is an HTTP protocol that uses just web browser unlike the app that can be blocked and/or filtered by a firewall on the computer and of the network where the computer is. You mentioned something about proxy setting, are you meant to use that? What happens when under Network of ReadyCloud desktop client Settings you have all proxy boxes unticked?

Can you describe more please what exactly happens when you log in to the ReadyCloud desktop client?

      Regards,

      • Hi

        Thanks for your reply

        At home no problem.

Using it here on my works PC (I'm working for an oil compamy and im actaully offshore just now) the program installs ok, When I sign in,  after quite a delay, i get the message readyCLOUD server is unavaiable and the tray icon remains grey. I have tried with and without using my company logon details in the proxxy section.

Bear in mind i have to logon to this PC. I can surf the internet etc, no problem, but when using for example a digital TV listing program I have installed, in order to recieve updates I have to to ensure my company logon and password details have been entred in the programs proxxy settings otherwise it will not happen. (Internet explorer already has this info populated and picks up my logon autmatically without having to enter my password again)
