Reset 524x and need advice
I am giving my 524x to a friend that has Iphones and notebook pc.
After defaulting the device (software version 6.10.10 I realized that the apps were gone and reading here I found where installing 6.10.7 the apps were then showing up .
what is the best app to install to hopefully automatically backup there iphones and then the same question for pc's
background on the pc his work has a readynas 628 with 8 wd6002FRYZ drives at the moment it is running 6.10.10 and the only app installed is resilio sync at the office they have fiber gb bidirectional and at his home the same thing
he would like his notebook to back up to his home system from home or office
in a perfect world he would want to have the backup of his pc and their iphone happen in the background if that isn't possible what is the best next option.
than you everyone for your help in advance.

The best way to accomplish that is to set up a VPN at home. Some routers have built-in VPN servers (for example, Netgear's Orbi and Nighthawk routers have OpenVPN - which I use myself). Zerotier is another possibility that could be installed on the notebook, the phones, and the NAS.
He can then install backup software on the notebook that has the NAS as a destination. FreeFileSync is one of many options.

There are changes to apt that you'd need to make. That is because Debian Jessie (the NAS OS) has been deprecated, and the Debian community has moved the library repos to archives.
Instructions are here:

Not sure what is "best". Resilio Sync is one option. iTunes running on a Windows PC is another (though not easily automated).
Though using iCloud is worth considering (either instead of, or in addition to).
