Retail or Re-furb?
So, I have my 2 new toys. One came inside an external carton. The other came with UPS stickers on the ReadyNAS box (naked). Fine, a shipper/vendor issue. Yes, I did confirm that my 104 day old DUO-V2...

I have never had an issue with Newegg. All three of mine came from there. Infrant and now Netgear designed the ReadyNAS box so that it could be directly shipped by the retailer to the customer. Yes, it should have had the round tape seals as you have described. They were probably left off at the assembly point as they should be put on by the factory not Newegg. I know I was surprised when my NV+ arrived back in 2007 that it was not in another box. However, since then, I have found that cases are not in another box either, just smaller items. The reason I asked about stickiness is if the seals were in place, cut and then removed, they would have left slight residue of stickiness behind that you can feel with your fingers. Another key to the fact that they are not refurbished units is that they have trays, screws, the CD and the ethernet cable. Refurbished units usually have none of that. There was a post once where a member sent back his unit and included the trays, when he got his new unit, no trays. They sent him a set.
Of course register your new units. Also, when you spin off your Duo V2, work with the new owner and Netgear and they can get the remainder of the warranty and support transferred to them.
If I recall you are going to use one to back up the other. When you are ready to either transfer your data from the Duo V2 or set up the backup and have any problems, hollar at me.
