RN104 USB 3.0
May seem a daft question, but what can the USB 3.0 ports be used for? What can it be connected to & for what purpose?

They basically serve the same purpose than on a PC/MAC.
You can connect storage devices on it (for backup or restore), you can plug UPS (to monitor it and I think you can shutdown the NAS when needed). That's what supported on the web interface. They are standard USB3 ports so I guess you could charge a phone on that too, although I'm not sure how the NAS will react to that...
They also can be used to reinstall the OS from an USB key and I think they are used to plug an USB token for encryption.
You could achieve pretty much anything a PC with linux can do with USB by modifying the Debian running the NAS but it's NOT advised at all.
