RN2150 Bad Disk Detected Refurbished

I recently bought this RND2150 refurbished. It came diskless. I did purchase a hard drive that was recommend and comptible using the Netgear website. However I am trying to install the unit on to my network. I have it plug into my router and the disk is inserted into the unit. I am now trying to install the software on to my computer. However it states that a "Bad disks detected" I am not really sure why. My unit power button is blinking blue. While all other lights are blinking green, with two slow blinks followed by three quick blinks. I am just trying to set up my unit. Is there a way to restart the install procress? To see if maybe I just goofed?

The first thing is to make sure you really did buy a compatible drive.  Is yours a 2150-100 (Duo V1) or 2150-200 (DuoV2)?  In addition to the model number being different, a true V2 will say "V2" on the front.  There may be a sticker on the bottom that says V2 or even V3.  That, a true V2 does not make.  The V1 will only accept drives up to 2TB.

It sounds like the drive you purchased is already formatted, and it's not the drive that's bad, it''s the contents.  If you have a PC and either access to an internal SATA port or a USB to SATA cable/dock/enclosure, mount the drive there and remove any existing partitions.  While it's there, it's a good idea to test it with the vendor's tool (or just Seatools, which handles most drives just fine).  Once the drive is unformatted, try again in the NAS.

FWIW, the code you are reporting is actually "No disks detected".

LED blink behavior for 2 disk systems is three quick blinks of all disk LEDs and the backup LED, followed by an 1s delay, followed by a number of slow blinks. The number of slow blinks will be the error code.

    Current error codes:
    1 - Vendor mismatch
    2 - No disks detected
3 - Bad contents on root partition of disks
    4 - Flash error
    5 - Unsupported RAID configuration

What disk drive did you purchase?

Try powering down the NAS, remove the drive, and power up again.  Let us know if RAIDar detects the NAS.
