rn312 problem with wd60efrx

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my Netgear 31200 from 2 x 2Tb to 2 x 6Tb

I checked the hardware compatibility list to ensure that the WD60EFRX (Red) were listed and they were on the list, I removed the 2 x 2Tb drives from the bays and Inserted the 2 x 6Tb drives instead and powered up the unit, the drives just don't seem to be recognised, do I need to format the new drives first?

What indicated to you that the drives "just don't seem to be recognised"?

The NAS needs to format the disks.

What version of ReadyNAS OS is on your 312?

When I inserted the discs into the drive bays and powered up the APS lights up but drive 1 and 2 leds do not light up so I am thinking that they are not being seen, they do spin up though.
I tried a factory reset paperclip on reset power on (cant get the unit to display any lights other than power button - so no menu) I can't get drive 1 led to light up at all
The newly purchased drives are on the compatibility list and are unused - completely blank -> 2 x WD RED WD60EFRX
ReadyNas OS is 6.2 as I recently upgraded when I had the 2 x 2Tb drives in the unit.

Also The RN312 was working fine - I just wanted to get more drive space, btw if I put the old drives back it works fine - stumped!

Looks like the 6TB disks are D.O.A. One not detected by the NAS at all and the other failed a short SMART test.

You were absolutely correct, I returned the drives for replacement and now everything is working!

Thanks for your assistance, much appreciated :)
