RN424 NAS

I have just purchased a RN424 NAS. It will be on a network with a single 2012 server. If I set up users on the NAS via active directory will the data still be accessible if the server is down. The purpose of the NAS is to make the data still available in the event of a server outage. Or should I set the users to the NAS Netgear accounts Any advice will be greatly appreciated

    No, authentication will fail if the server is down.

    The best way is to create a failover cluster for your AD or Yes, use local accounts to get access to your data.

    Other users might have better ideas to share with your setup.

      Hi Marc, thanks for helping me regarding the NAS authentification. I tried reading through the manuals which were very instructive re either a Local NAS accounts or Active directory accounts, but neither answered the question regarding authentication

      if the server was down.You were a great help, thanks again
