Router doesnt recognize external USB hard drive

I have a ReadyNAS RND4000 with 4x1TB drives. It's old but working well. I have attached a 2 TB external drive to the USB port for offsite storage. It's worked fine, but is  now full. I attached a 5 TB external drive and the NAS isn't recognizing it. Advice?

Your old NAS doesn't support GPT formatting, so you can't use drives larger than 2 TB.

The best workaround is to attach the drive to a PC, and copy over a wired network.  That removes the size limitation, and is also much faster.
