Samsung HD204UI and Ultra 2 Plus

Hello,

I am looking at using the Samsung HD204UI HDD in the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus unit. However, this HDD is not on the HCL.

Does anyone have any experience using these two units in combination? Are there any potential issues in doing so? Or does it work fine?

I did consider the WD model (I think it's the WD20EARS), but I've heard it is not a good idea to use that range with NAS units due to certain power saving features it has (head park?).

I'd appreciate any advice!

Thanks,

Odai.

  • The HD204UI drives are on the HCL for the Ultra 2/4/6 but not the Ultra 2/4/6 Plus series, nor the Pro 2/4/6. I would have to assume that since they are approved and apparently work well on the Ultra series, they would do likewise on the Ultra Plus series. It is probably the fact that they have just not cleared the testing process.
  • I just bought the Readynas Ultra 2 plus will the SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 HD204UI 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive work. I see the previous poster assume they should but I like to be sure I got everything still new in a box and I have 15 days to either open this up and install or take it back. I just hate to get a 15% restocking fee if this will not work.

I appreciate any advice I can get.

    Thank you
  • I have 6 of those drives running on my ReadyNAS Pro!
Just update the firmware and all goes well!
