Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 vs 7200.14
Hi,
One of my Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200.12 has died in my ReadyNAS 102 and I can only find a 1TB 7200.14 as a replacement, I read some where that the drives have to be identical, will they work together?
Many Thanks,
Mark

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe drives don't have to be identical, as long as they are the same size. In fact there are people who think mix-and-match is more reliable.
Stick to the HCL (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641) as Netgear will deny support if you don't. The 7200.14 is on the list, the 7200.12 is not.
Your signature says "duo", not RN102 btw, You might want to update it, as people often tailor their responses based on the signature. - Dane_realstarAspirantExcellent many thanks for your quick reply (again)
- Dane_realstarAspirantAnother quick question, it's drive one that has gone, do I simply replace it or do I have to make drive 2 drive 1 and and install the new one as drive 2?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserJust remove drive 1, and insert a new one in the same slot with the NAS running.
