How are these going? I'm considering them for my ultra 6+ as the older Seagate Drives on the Compatibility list seem unobtainable or if the odd drive is available its priced at enterprise levels rather than anything close to the prices a month ago.
This holds for several of the 3Tb models on the compatibility list - the newer models have come through faster than Netgear testing can keep up with lately although it would be really useful to know which drives are currently selected for testing with a view to adding to the compatibility list in the next few weeks/months. I really don't want to use 'Deathstars' as I've had too many bad experiences with them.

I ordered one of these drives from NewEgg and paid $199.99. I just received it today and installed it in a brand new ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus. I set up the ReadyNAS for X-RAID2; however, the Seagate drive is the only drive I put in the ReadyNAS (didn't want to order a second one until I knew this model drive worked). So far, things look good. After formatting the drive, the ReadyNAS shows 0% of 2,768 GB used. My plan is to order one more of these drives and then install both of them in a slightly older ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus that currently has four 1.5TB Seagate drives. When I do that, I'll take the two 1.5TB drives out of the older system and put them in the new ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus, which I then will use solely for archiving my shows from my TiVos. When drive prices finally come down, I'll probably pick up another two 3TB drives, put them in the older ReadyNAS Ultra unit, and then put then put the 1.5TB drives in the newer ReadyNAS Ultra unit (i.e., the TiVo unit) so I'll end up with four 3TB drives in one ReadyNAS Ultra and four 1.5TB drives in the other ReadyNAS Ultra.

I have similar plans, but I am waiting for the seagate 4tb drives to become available again @ $200 (already have 2x 4tb drives)

I'd like to see 4TB drives at that price (preferably not in an external enclosure) too. Drive prices are too high at the moment for my liking.

Well, something must be happening. I thought I was getting a good deal on the 3TB drive. It was supposedly on sale at NewEgg when I bought it, and the sale ended the day of my purchase (which was 2/27/12 or 2/28/12). Today, I see that NewEgg's regular price is now $199.99, as is TigerDirect's, and Amazon's. So, I'm wondering whether hard drive prices are finally starting to fall.

Though I'm not thrilled at paying $200 for this drive, I'm inclined to go ahead and purchase the second one so I can move forward with my plans and at least pair my drives and get my TiVo ReadyNAS running.

Just a brief update: I've now installed both 3TB drives in my older ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus unit. I installed one drive at a time, waiting for the first one to fully sync before installing the second, and then rebooting the ReadyNAS after the second drive was fully synced so it could expand the drive. I've gone from 83% of 4,151 GB used (with four 1.5TB drives) to 62% of 5,543GB used (with two 3TB drives and two 1.5TB drives). So, replacing two 1.5TB drives with two 3TB drives has given me roughly and extra 1.4TB of space, which should be sufficient to last me until the 3TB drives drop in price.

I do find one added side benefit of the new 3TB drives: They seem to run a little cooler than the 1.5TB drives. The two new 3TB drives are running at 100 and 104 degrees F whereas the old old 1.5TB drives are running at 113 and 111 degrees. Because I live in Phoenix, and my home office has a southern exposure (with another wall facing West), the slightly cooler temperatures of the drives are much appreciated. FWIW, the 1.5TB drives are Seagate model number ST31500341AS.

I'm now in the process of creating a volume in my new ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus unit using the two 1.5TB drives that I just replaced.

I've just purchased a Pro 6, Installed 4 x ST3000DM001's, On first boot, it says each disk is only 764Gb in Size.. With a volume (RAID-X2) of 2207Gb

I think something is wrong. Should I interrupt and start with one disk at a time ??

Wirregar your NAS has shipped with RAIDiator x86 4.2.15 or earlier which does not support 3TB drives.

I'd recommend you install just one 3TB drive in the NAS, do a factory default (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu), update to the latest firmware, verify update is successful, then power down and put all the disks in and do another factory default. This will give you a clean setup on the latest firmware.
