SEAGATE Disks to RND 2150
HI!
I have a RND 2150 where one of the HDD's failed last week. I am now looking for a new HDD.
I have checked the list of Compatible HDD''s on the NETGEAR site but I cannot find exactly the same disc in the stores.
So my question is:
Are the SEAGATE BARRACUDA 750GB HDD with manufacturer Item nbr ST3750528AS (listed in the Netgear Compatibility list) the same as the
the SEAGATE BARRACUDA 750GB HDD with manufacturer Item nbr ST3750525AS as I can find at my preferred internet dealer.
Thanks for a valid response / Johan

Here is a page showing the Seagate model numbers, including Maxtor and Samsung.
There are differences between the two drives.
Unfortunately I don't have a good answer for you. With all the changes in the drive manufacturers (WD buying Hitachi and Seagate buying Samsung) as well as the floods and models discontinued, disrupted and new ones on the market, it is hard for the NAS manufacturers to keep up the HCL. You may have to find an approved 1TB, 1.5TB or 2TB drive. While it will only be recognized in the device as a 750GB (until you replace the other drive with a matching size) you will at least have redundancy back.
This is one reason that most of us buy spares when we buy drives for an NAS. At one time I had three different brands and sizes among the 4 hard drives in my NV+. That is when I started buying spares.
You can try the 525, but if there are problems, technical support will not by sympathetic.
A bit of a digression perhaps, but it would be good if Netgear support took that into account. There are really 3 groups of drives - (a) tested and known to work, (b) tested and known to fail, and (c) not tested.PapaBear wrote: ...With all the changes in the drive manufacturers (WD buying Hitachi and Seagate buying Samsung) as well as the floods and models discontinued, disrupted and new ones on the market, it is hard for the NAS manufacturers to keep up the HCL...
Not publishing category (b), and denying all support on category (c) is increasingly problematic.
