Seagate ST31500341AS-CC1H on ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer Edition(1YA59CRE00137)

Question

I am running the above data storage with six drivers of Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164. But one driver broken. Can I use one Seagate ST31500341AS-CC1H to replace the broken one?&nbsp;Thanks,&nbsp;Nicho

Unfortunately no. &nbsp;You need a 2 TB drive, and the&nbsp;ST31500341AS is only 1.5.
&nbsp;
I suggest either a WD20EFRX or a ST2000VN000. &nbsp;Both are intended for NAS use.

It should be fine (other folks have used in in OS 4.2 systems and it is on the HCL for the Pro Pioneer). &nbsp;The WD20EFRX certainly works (I'm a WD guy myself).

You can mix/match disks in a ReadyNAS, and both of these are on the HCL with no limitations. &nbsp;

I haven't used this particular combination myself, but I have mixed Seagate and Western Digital drives on my Pro-6 and had no problems.
&nbsp;
Gradually moving to NAS-purposed drives as the DM's fail is a reasonable strategy.
&nbsp;
BTW, RAID isn't enough to keep data safe, and I do suggest having an up-to-date backup before manipulating disks.
&nbsp;
If the NAS is filling up, you can expand the volume by installing larger disks - XRAID will expand, but not contract. &nbsp;There are some limits to growth, in your case it depends on what disks you had in place when you did the original installation.
