Seagate ST33000651AS vs ST3000DM001
Hello, oh great fountains of all knowledge...
I was looking at 3TB HDDs and would be keen to consider the Barracuda range of Seagate drives.
Although the ST33000651AS is in the HCL, it doens't seem to be available in the UK. We have the ST3000DM001 model instead.
Does anyone have any experience with ST3000DM001s? Are they the same thing with just a different part number?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :)

- PapaBear1ApprenticeIf the part number is different, it's not the same thing, and they usually don't announce what they have changed. While that drive is on the HCL for the ARM based ReadyNAS units, it is not on the HCL for the x-86 based units. I would recommend that you find an available drive that is, even if it's not going to be a Seagate.
- ReadySECUREApprenticePapaBear is absolutely correct here. The drives that show under your device on the HCL have been fully tested and proven to function correctly with that particular ReadyNAS device. Some appear on lists that aren't on others. So it is always best to find one that is compatible with your specific ReadyNAS so that you won't experience some strange issue with a drive that hasn't been tested; or failed to make the HCL for that particular NAS.
