I too, changed the fan into blowing air into the housing; quiet operation is paramount. Given the amount of dust 'dots' that nicely showed the pattern of holes in the outer casing of the NV, I thought moving the black filter from the door to the hind of the unit would be a good thing, so as to block dust. Well... it isn't! I soon got a bombardment of mails that the temperature had gone into the warning zone. I have spin-down set to 5 minutes, so nothing really bad happened, but be forewarned.
As an alternative to the tight mesh of the Infrant filter, I now use a piece of fume-hood filter loosely Z-wrapped in front of the protective casing of the fan. It is way thicker, more of an open structure, catches most of the dust and it lets through the air more easily. Temperature hasn't been that low before, I haven't been so happy (also since the 1.0 updater of AFP add-on).
