Got my replacement PSU. The new one is slightly different from the old one, it has a metal housing covering the components (which should keep the dust off them better) and a plastic shield that I guess is to hold the cable in place. They didn't send ANY directions on how to replace the unit but since I've done computer repairs I decided to just dive in and 12 screws later I had the thing replaced. Now I can see if my data is still there...
This is what the old one looked like when I removed it. I didn't see any obvious signs of damage but the thing sure is dusty and it definitely wasn't working right
