Shares, Permissions, Guests? Arghhhhh Help needed please...
Hi,
Really looking for some help with setting up users and shares please?
There are 5 users. 2 admins and 3 users.
I have 6 folders/shares.
Share 1 is family photos.
Share 2 is media.
Share 3 is music.
Share 4 is private.
Share 5 is projects.
Share 6 is backups.
Shares 1, 2 and 3 I’d like admins to be able to write and read. Users can just read.
Shares 4, 5 and 6 only admins can access them
My NAS is: ReadyNas RNDP4000. With 4 x 2tb Green WD HDD.
I’ve tried to get my head around setting these up and for some reason I can’t 😞
Only when I tick allow guests so I get access? But don’t want guest. It’s a little confusing for me.
Any help would be appreciated please
Hopefully The pictures may help.
Regards
Dave

Hello Dave,
Can't see the images yet, as this requires Netgear moderation.
Is this ReadyNAS Pro 4 operating on the legacy RAIDiator 4.2.x or was it migrated to the ReadyNAS OS 6 (very nice, but not supported by Netgear)?
Two user groups and granting the access rights accordingly, and avoid DLNA (UpnP AV) access to be granted should do the job on either OS.
-KurtYep still 4.2.x. Didn’t know it could be upgraded that far?
Lol, pictures would help. Bit of luck they’ll get authorised soon
- Got myself into a right state. Couldn’t even transfer to or from a share.
So complicated... just need a tick box system with who can access it.
So I think, at the moment, I have it so everyone can access all the shares. Which isn’t what I need.
Just don’t want the kids to accidentally delete a photo album etc...
