Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM working good so far
There was a recent deal at NewEgg on the SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB drives, so I decided to risk it as opposed to the other WD & Seagate 2tb drives. I installed them, upgraded the ...

Sorry you haven't received a reply on if you need to do a factory reset after adding each drive. My understanding (I'm not an expert) is that you only need to do the factory reset once with the firmware that supports the 4K sector alignment. So upgrade the firmware, factory reset (save all your data before the factory reset!), then you are good to go. After adding all the drives (best done one at a time to check if the drive just added has issues), and the volume is optimal then restore your data. I ordered 9 of the Samsung 2TB F4 drives, and have been very happy so far. I also format them in Win XP first to ensure they at least do that (all of them have done fine), then put them in your NAS. I have a NV+ and recently purchased the Ultra 4 since the NV+ is a little slow if you are constantly moving lots of data, but it does fine for serving up media on you home network. I'm in the process of adding the 3rd drive now, but the LCD went wacko displaying garbage after restriping the volume and in the process of completing the migration. After it is complete, I'll shut it down and reboot and expect the LCD will be fine. The logs and status all look good. I also bought a LG BD570 blue ray player, and plan on using it to stream video from the Ultra 4 and/or the NV+. The NV+ just released new firmware that supports the 4K sector alignment looks like a huge firmware upgrade. :D
