ST2000DL003 Compatibility?
Being a RNP user that is running out of space, I'm wanting to purchase new drives.
I'm interested in using the Seagate ST2000DL003 2TB drives.
These drives are not currently listed on the compatibly list.
Any word on when they might be tested?

- sjwAspirantJust done it - case number 15093648
- sjwAspirantRemoved a HDD and added it to a PC and re-initialised it. Put it back in the NAS and it re-synced (18 hours! :( ). I could only see the status in RAIDar by hovering over the NAS green light. In Frontview it didn't report that it was syncing. Finished but still reports the same:
Online, RAID Level , disks, 0% of 0 MB used.
Readying for the inevitable factory reset I have gone to the Config Backup option but selecting 'Download Configuration Archive' thinks for a few seconds and does nothing.
Still heard nothing from my Support ticket either. :( - scuAspirant@sjw: Any news on what happend with your segate drives?

Sorry - iI really thought I had updated this.. :oops:scu wrote: @sjw: Any news on what happend with your segate drives?
Had a response from Netgear to back up my data and do a complete Factory Reset. I was very disappointed in that answer to be honest. I asked about all my settings, userid's/passwords and file access permissions etc. so they then said to just switch off and hold the reset button at the back for 5 seconds. This keeps all of your settings and data (advisable to back up though) and the only thing it resets as far as I can remember was the admon password and addon settings.
That sorted it too. :)
I think that should have been the first suggestion... - PapaBear1ApprenticeSo you basically just did a firmware reinstall rather than a factory default.

Yup, that's right. I would have liked that to be their first suggestion though... As soon as it came back up the drives were reported properly and other things that weren't behaving (config backup) were fine again.PapaBear wrote: So you basically just did a firmware reinstall rather than a factory default.
Big thanks to you and mdgm for all of your help guys! :D - B52hbuffAspirantAny word on the ST2000DL003 usage in an NV/NV+? I am interested in upgrading to the 2TB drive. The ST2000DL003 is the latest consumer 2TB drive, and as is posted in this thread, the previous version is harder to get or more expensive.
Can someone say whether Netgear will be testing the ST2000DL003 in the NV? How long does it take to run the verification tests? What are the schedule of tests? I really understand why the NV/NV+ would be at the back of the testing/validation queue, but it'd be nice to know if/when these new drives might get tested... - PapaBear1ApprenticeIt is on the HCL for the NV+ and has been for some weeks.

Thanks. I shouldn't have included NV+ in my note. I have an NV and the new Seagate isn't on the list.
My experience has shown that the NV and NV+ share many things in common. So when it wasn't in the NV list, I assumed it wasn't in the NV+ list either. I should have looked.
It makes me feel better that eventually the drive will make it to the NV. - PapaBear1ApprenticeThat is interesting. I was the opposite, I knew it was on the NV+ list and assumed it was also on the NV list. Other than the display panel on the front, I am not sure what the difference is. The Rev B of the NV has the same power supply as came on the NV+ in the early days, and if the PSU has failed in the NV Rev A, it has to be replaced with the fanless PSU that came in the Rev B and NV+.
Several months back I was given a gift certificate with Amazon and took the opportunity to purchase a spare NV+ PSU. I have a late Infrant NV+, purchased in May, 2007 and when I got the new PSU, I compared it to the one in my NV+. It is significantly different.
