Ultra 4 dead disk & re-striping time

I'm not suggesting you don't have a disk problem - you do; just that its probably not related to 4.2.22.
The unit is probably not going to come online again until you get a new disk in, but given the unusual behaviour and the fact that you can't shut it down formally, you may face a greater risk of data loss.
You could be really careful and contact support, or you could force a shut down, insert a new disk into 4, and try to boot.
There is a risk to data as you will be left with only one copy if this fails and the NAS starts to build a new volume,
Edit: sorry just seen you post. Testing does not take that long, the unit should be complete with testing and resync within 12 hours for a 2 tb
