Ultra2 CPU 1.5GHz or 1.8GHz
Hi!
It is mentioned in the following article that from May the Ultra2 is produced with a slightly weaker CPU (price reduction)

I don't know how much this 300Mhz difference causes in performance. Maybe not much.
Nevertheless, how can I figure out which CPU I have in my NAS? (I bought my device 1 week ago, so maybe I already have the new one)

- If you have ssh access, you can find out using the following command:
cat /proc/cpuinfo

From what I've been told, the performance difference is minimal.
-Dave - If you don't have SSH search your logs (Status > Logs > Download all Logs) for "Atom". Hopefully the CPU model is mentioned there
- Checked it. It is 1.8GHz type.
By the way: it is strange, I couldn't even find this new and cheaper 1.5GHz processor on the official Intel site.

Maybe the new Z625 which is one of the new Lincroft low power CPU's designed for tablets/phones. 2.2W TDP. However no Intel 64 support.

Where did you get info that Netgear was making this mod to the Ultra2 beginning with May production?- yoh-dah told us about the CPU change via PM.

Maybe. But if you check the "Estimated Recommended Channel Price" on Intel site then you will find it is 75$ for the Z625, and 42$ for the D425.
If really the price reduction is the goal, then how could this be possible with the higher price for the Z625?- Reading up more on the Lincroft/Moorestown platform seems to point to this NOT being the CPU of choice for a NAS.
Maybe Intel is releasing other variants of the Pineview architecture.
I'll stop guessing now.... - Mine got an Atom D405 @1.5ghz ! At least it is still hyperthreaded !
- Hard to tell which CPU will be in it. Just bet for getting 1.5G, if you get an older 1.8G consider it a bonus.
