We have started with 2TB x4 =8TB as the initial storage. so shall i upgrade to 16 TB (4TB x 4).

If it is directly not possible let me know, how i can make reset to factory and use 16TB.

That expansion should work fine.
Regardless of which way you want to go it would be advisable to make sure your backup is up to date as your next step.
