USB 3.0 hard drive not mounting
Hi,
ReadyNAS Ultra 2
I've owned this NAS for about a week. The first two times I used my USB 3.0 portable hard drive to backup data it worked fine, I had the NAS format the hard drive the first time and then do the backup. But since then, when I plug in the device it does not appear in the volumes menu. I tried putting a usb 2.0 pen drive in there and it mounted fine. I put the portable hard drive into my computer and it worked fine.
Any idea? Has it broken already?
thanks
Lionel.

Will try the bios update tonight. - chirpaLuminaryI'm curious on the Manufacture Date of your Ultra 2. I'd hope by now all systems out there would be shipping with the latest BIOS already.
- Lionelv00AspirantWhere do I find the manufacture date? I am logged in remotely and found the bios version to be 1.4 06/08/2010 from memory. I did the update but obviously can't plug in the USB drive until I get home.
- chirpaLuminaryApparently your system was manufactured on 2011-11-01.
- Lionelv00AspirantHow did you find that out?
Aside from that, what kind of time from manufacture to my home should I expect? And does it matter once I've upgraded all the firmware and bios (should I be upset?). - chirpaLuminaryA little birdie at NTGR looked it up for me.
Seeing as most stuff probably ships via boat from China, then distributor, to reseller... Six months would be typical. - Lionelv00AspirantOh right, so Netgear has my details via my registration?
So it probably doesn't matter anyway, hopefully my USB hdd will work tonight :). - chirpaLuminaryWhen you register your unit, your serial number is sent. The first three digits of the serial number align to a manufacturing batch.
