Volume degraded Readynas 214 disk 2
Readynas 214
firmware 6.10.2
Hi All i'm kind of new into nas world but i wil ask you what i can do best. My readynas 214 shows a volume degrade and hd 2 is now blinking. When i open the web interface i also see dat the system is resyncing.
When i look at the log i can see it tried to reboot itssels two times and tried to resync the volume. Does this mean my hd 2 is broken? and what can i about it? Do i need to replace the hd? When i replace the HD wil the system resync after reboot and bring the volume back and wil disk 2 turn green again?
i hope you guys can help me out here?

Certainly one of the disks is causing the problem. Try downloading the full log zip file. You can look at disk health in disk_info.log and look for disk errors in system.log and kernel.log. If that's not enough to figure out the problem, send a private message to one of the Netgear mods ( JohnCM_S or Marc_V ) and ask them to analyze the logs for you. Include a downloadable link to the full log zip in the request. You send a PM using the envelope icon in the upper right of the forum page.
In the meantime, create or update your backup right away, as your data is at risk of loss.
To replace a disk, you hot-swap it - remove the current one, and insert the new (blank) one with the NAS running. Wait for the resync to complete before hot-swapping the next one.

That's a good sign, but you still need to find out why it needed to re-sync in the first place. You may have a failing drive. On the System/Performance page of the GUI, hovering over the dot associated with each drive brings up a SMART summary. Or, download the logs and look at disk_info.log.
