I used:
wdidle3 /d
This disables idle3 mode completely. See also the thread I posted a link to earlier (page 15)
If either the Readynas or the disk's firmware is fixed so the two work correctly together, the same tool can be used to re-enable the Green idle3 mode. - davec1Aspirant

@muxje - Do I need to attached the hard drive through a SATA interface to use wdidle. Or can I use a USB enclosure (which would be much easier).
Also, what version of wdidle3 are you using - I can only find version 1.0 for download.
Thanks - MuxjeAspirantI used version 1.0. You need to connect the drive to a Sata interface, disconnect all other drives, then boot the pc into DOS from floppy, USB stick or cd. Then use the wdidle tool
- davec1AspirantOne more quesion - How do I acces wdidle3 from DOS? I was going to use a CD with FreeDos on it, but then where do I put the actual wdidle3 exe? Bit of a newbie, so any details would be much appreciated.
Thanks! - dat4wdAspirantI'd checked LCC again:
disk 1 200,003
disk 2 108,313
disk 3 068,132
disk 4 200,004 - MuxjeAspirant

Looks good... did you run the wdidle3 tool? - dat4wdAspirant

Not yet. Yesterday after I'd checked LCC, I'd upgraded to 4.1.6. I will see LLC after one week. - davec1AspirantJust got my 2TB discs. Trying to use Freedos with wdidle3. If I burn the Freedos iso to disc I can't seem to add wdidle to the same disc (it closes the disc). I tried to just burn the FReedos files and add wdidle3 at the root level of the CD, but then the CD won't boot at all.
I'm sure I must be missing some basic idea about how to set up the Freedose boot CD with wdidle3. Can someone explain how to burn the CD so it will work. Thanks!
