URE -> you get no data when you try to read the disk sector, instead you get an error indication from the disk. RAID can correct it.
bitrot -> you get wrong data when you read the disk sector, and you get no error indication from the disk. RAID can't correct it. BitRot protection can correct it (at least sometimes).
