What is the best NAS system 4Me?
1st off thanks for a great website which I will be using heaps to help with setups.
I'm confussed with all the option available.
What I currently have in my house (Not a bussiness..)
- 1 TiVo (LAN)
- 1 Topfield (Wireless)
- 1 LG smart TV (LAN)
- 2 Desh top PC's (LAN)
- 2 Laptops (Wireless)
This is all run from my ADSL moden.
What I would like to do.
- Central storage to stop having the same infromation on each computer.
- Extra storage for the TiVo to record to
- Be able to download Torrents without having a computer on.
- Set my Printer to be able to be used by all computers. (This may need to be upgraded as it has no internet connection. Canon MP600)
- Set up iTunes on it so I can connect from any computer to update my iPods.. Is iTune the worse program ever? or is just my lack of know in setting it up?
I can get NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ RND4000 - NAS + 4 x Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB Hard Drive for just under $700 (Aus Dollars).
But from what I can find out these are old tec.
Any help or advise welcomed....
I believe I would currently fill 2TB with music & videos (TV shows included) I have.
Thanks
Darren

- Welcome to the forum!
I would recommend the Ultra or Ultra+ series as they can be paired up with your TiVo to be used as extra storage.
Most of the stuff you listed "could" be done on the NV+ but the Ultra lineup allows for faster transfer speeds and the support/add-ons for it are much more abundant.
I'm not familiar with Topfield. Is it a satellite receiver?
