What is the difference between Model 314D and 314E
RN31443D-100NAS and RN31443E-100NAS appear the same, but the E model is more than $500 more. Why? Thanks for help in my upcoming purchase!
The "E" comes with enterprise drives, the "D" comes with less expensive desktop drives.
The cheapest approach is usually to buy it diskless, and then purchase 4 WD30EFRX (Western digital) or 4 ST3000VN000 drives (Seagate) separately. Both drives are ~$125 each in the US at the moment, so you'd add $500 (possibly a bit more) to the diskless purchase price. The two drive models listed above have 3 year warranties, and are intended for NAS use.
