What is the UPS model that will allow automatic shutdown on threshold for RNDX4220|ReadyNAS NVX

Question

Model: RNDX4220|ReadyNAS NVX 4TB&nbsp;&nbsp;According to the manual :When an APC-brand UPS is connected, a shutdown on threshold drop-down option is available.&nbsp;Does this mean&nbsp;I am able to use ANY model apc battery backup or does it need to be a smart ups model?&nbsp;Also is there any other connections that need to be made from the NAS to the battery backup unit or is it only the NAS power cord that needs to be plugged into the&nbsp;APC battery backup unit to allow for&nbsp;shutdown on threshold option?&nbsp;If it is in fact any model - which one would you recomend?&nbsp;Also do you know what power measurements this device uses on regular basis so i could use the APC battery backup selector tools below to determine the APC device to purchase based on how long it will keep the NVX running?&nbsp;https://www.apc.com/us/en/support/resources-tools/product-selectors.jsp&nbsp;Thanks you for your time and help!

On page 39 it says: NVX Pioneer and NVX (Business Edition): 76W (with 4 x 1 TB disks).

You need a model that includes a USB connector for monitoring.&nbsp; The Network UPS Tools folks maintain a compatibility list here:&nbsp;https://networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html

For the NVX or other systems that still run older firmware, the list at the NUT site might include ones not supported by the older version of NUT that's in the firmware.&nbsp; There are notes about the min revision of NUT for some UPS, but I don't know which version is in the 4.2.x firmware.

So I am currently running&nbsp;RAIDiator 4.2.31.&nbsp;So what i will need to do to get this to work is using a PC that is directly connected to any USB port on the NVX and then install this NUT software on the PC and then configure the NVX to shutdown on threshold in the NVX web gui?&nbsp;Also thank you both for your helpful answers!&nbsp;&nbsp;

No.&nbsp; You'd connect the UPS directly to the NAS USB port.&nbsp; The NAS already has the NUT software installed.&nbsp; The NAS will automatically detect the UPS when you connect it.&nbsp; Shutdown will be set to "Auto" by default.&nbsp;&nbsp;Whatever other configuration options are available with your particular UPS will be shown in Frontview (in System-&gt;Power).

FWIW, I use a CyberPower UPS with my own Pro-6 (also running 4.2.31), and I do see threshold settings in Frontview.&nbsp; Though personally I just use Auto.

While it is quite possible that some new UPS models might not work correctly with the older NUT software on the NAS, I haven't seen any reports of that happening here.&nbsp; APC is a popular brand, and many NAS owners use them.
