Workaround for ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH problem for Sparc NAS (4.1.x firmware)
This workaround eliminates the redirection of http://nas-name-or-ip/admin to https://nas-name-or-ip/admin for NAS running 4.1.x firmware. It does require ssh to install.

I'm on a Window's 11 machine connecting to a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 running RAIDiator 4.2.31. I managed to get access to Frontview using Firefox 94.0.2 (disabling automatic updates per StephenB as soon as i opened firefox proved essential, in case anyone's struggling with that the way i did)
I have a similar question as did jmzorko, namely, I'm trying to identify the correct file to download then load as a local add-on into Frontview. Following https://rnxtras.com/ i found my way to https://repos.rnxtras.com/debian/. but it's not clear to me exactly which file from the many directories i should use. I rolled the dice and tried all the files i found in https://repos.rnxtras.com/debian/ntgr-r4x86/dists/r4x86/main/binary-i386/, however, "uploading and verifying" from the Add-ons tab resulted in each one giving me an error saying "Update file is not valid for this architecture."
So... I think i'm almost there - i just need to find the right file that will upgrade my NAS to use TLS 1.2. Can anyone point me to the exact file i should use?

Though IMO better strategy would be to convert your NAS to run OS-6.
Thanks, StephenB! Worked like a charm. I did get an error at the end of the install but just rebooted the NAS anyway and it gave me an "install successful" message after startup. I think you mentioned that might happen in an earlier post in this thread.

... I saw the instructions you posted to do this earlier in the thread and it looks like this requires backing up then reformatting the disks installed on the NAS. I might consider doing this when i have more time but could you explain the benefits of moving to OS-6 now that i'm back up an running through TLS 1.2

One important aspect is that OS-6 supports SMB 3.x Microsoft and Apple are both deprecating SMB 1 (which is all 4.2.x supports). At the moment, Microsoft does allow you to re-enable it in Windows. But Microsoft has said that in "some future release" they will remove SMB 1 completely.
OS-6 is still getting security updates (while 4.2.x hasn't had any updates for some years now).
It has other features that 4.2.x doesn't have - the snapshot features built into the BTRFS file system, antivirus scanning, the ability to schedule maintenance functions are three that come to mind. How valuable those are to you depend on how you use your NAS.
One disadvantage to OS6 is that it is more intense on resources, so depending on your ram config, it may run slower than OS4.

We do recommend upgrading memory to at least 2 GB when you do the conversion. I haven't seen any complaints here about overall performance compared with OS 4.2.
