Cant change Transmission settings
Hi!
This is my first post here since I got my Readynas Duo V2 yesterday. I´m trying to edit settings.json direct in the GUI of Transmission 2.50. Every time I change something it will go back to the previous settings. I stopped the Transmission service when I tried to change it. Is there any other way to configure this file? I read about notepadd++, but I cant find the settings file in the treeview in RAIDiator.

- JarnoGGuideIf Transmission is running, you should be able to edit most settings through the webGUI.
If you want to edit settings.json directly using Notepad++, you will have to stop the Transmission service, then browse to your NAS using CIFS. There should be a share called "addons-config". If the share does not show, then use your admin account to log in. Either the share then shows up, or you will have to go to the "c"-share and then there's a folder called "addons-config".
Go to addons-config, then the folder "Transmission", then to "transmission-daemon". Settings.json is one of the files in that folder. - MikaelwiknerAspirantThanks! But I cant find the folder "addons-config" and the rest that should be placed under it. I choosed to see hidden files and fokders too. In /C I just see the following folders:
backup
home
media
torrent (self created för downloads)
Im running RAIDiator 5.3.4
I´m not familiar with CIFS. What is it and how do I use it?
I just looked in the treeview in the readynas interface and through SSH. When I´m looking in explorer at network places I just see the shared folders and the attached USB.
Mikael - JarnoGGuideCIFS is the protocol that is being used when you browse to your nas via network places in windows explorer. I thought the addons-config folder was at the same place on the Duov2 as it is on the v1 and the Ultra's, but I might be wrong. There's probably someone around here that knows though..
- MikaelwiknerAspirantThank you for clearing things up with CIFS. I cant see everything on volume C from windows because its not shared from the NAS. I found the settings file in a different way. I had to backup the transmission folder from /c on the NAS called .transmissionbt. It´s placed hidden in the info folder. I cant see it in the NAS file viewer even when I choosed show hidden files and folders. But when I looked in the copy on an USB drive it showed up.
I hope ther will be a real file manager for the DUO V2 soon and other usefull add-ons.
