Can't make Automatic and Transmission work

Nope, since Automatic only retrieves .torrent files, not the actual download. It should place the .torrent file in the folder you specify, that's correct. If it doesn't when run as a daemon but does so when run from the command line, then you have a permission issue. Make sure the "admin" user has write access to the folder where you want the .torrent files to be placed by Automatic.
