Connecting to ReadyNas via ReadyNasRemote
Hi guys,
Over the last week there were all sorts of errors being posted by user about the ReadyNas remote recent update. I just tried reinstalling ReadyNas remote - not getting the same errors I did last week so it appears that the bug has been resolved.
My next problem is - connecting to the share that I created on the ReadyNas from another computer. When I login to ReadyNaS Remote from an offsite computer, and select "Connect to Ready NAs", a folder on this computer pops up. (Was kind-of thinking that some type of file/directory user interface would pop up, loaded with all the files I added to the NAS)
Anyway, shouldn't I now see something in the folder that pops up? Its totally empty.
I thought I had created the share successfully on the NAS and got that all setup appropriately.
What am I missing here....?
Thanks!

I am new to the forum and ReadyNAS...
I checked for the latest versions.
I uninstalled and reinstalled according the the instructions in this forum.
I rebooted the NAS and the client machines several times.
Here is what I know.
ReadyNAS Duo
Client
Windows 7
ReadyNAS REMOTE 1.6.5.16
BIOS 4.1.7
Remote Addon - 1.0.9.51
RAIDAR 4.3.1
It acts like it is working but i can't see any shares.
or the file that I am suppose to click on to see shares.
(instructions say "You’ll see the ReadyNAS entry in your Windows File Explorer") I don't.
We can see shares locally.
Shares have a mix of permissions
and at least 3 shares are open to be viewed by everyone.
Please help.
You have to go into AddOns, Add New (Install ReadyNas remote)
Then go to add ons, installed, click on ready nas remote, and add the user that you want to have permisison to the share. This will make a small blue icon appear int hat blank folder...thats what gets you the ability to see your files. :) - cg5000Aspirant

Reinstalling ReadyNAS remote does not work.
Regards - Sat there trying everything half of the day and then a final reboot did the trick since it turned out that all my shares were somehow busy..

Can you explain this a little more.
I've got latest addon installed. xxx.51
added user to remote bit.
remote pc software logs in and shows empty folder.
do I need to do anything to the fileshare itself on the NAS. - ChabbaAspirantHad excatly the same problem on my computers registered theu users and everthing was setup acc to instructions but it did not work. Logged in to server but ended up with an empty folder when i chose connect to ReadyNAS. I deeply regret bying this piece of junk and i will definately replace very soon had nothing but problems during the month that i have had it.
- ipaul81AspirantI am having the same problem. I have rebooted the NAS, ensured I have the latest software and FM versions. My Mac and iPhone claim it is connected to the NAS using the remote software however there are no contents within the folder. Please help.
- tedblankAspirantI was having the same problem. After two frustrating days talking to support, it appears that the problem was in the ReadyNAS Remote server. As of last night (August 16, 2011) it was fixed on the server, but it also requires end users to do the following:
Go into your Manage ReadyNAS Remote app in RaidAR (under Services / Installed AddOns) , select Advanced, and select "Restart P2P".
After this, my empty folder was suddenly populated with all the shares and files on my ReadyNAS.
Good luck, let us know if it works for you.
PS - they have not yet told me if this problem might recur, or if the 'Restart P2P" workaround is something one should try as part of normal debugging. I've asked that question of their L3 support and they are supposed to email me back an answer.
Best of luck,
Ted - ipaul81AspirantI fixed mine by uninstalling the plugin, downloading the latest x86 version and reintalling it. Works like a charm now however the remote service does seem a tad slow.
