Finally a new dyn dns client, D(yn)D(ns)Client, thanks WhoCares:

What are your experiences on this?
Hey Netgear, I can't understand why you don't have a dyn dns client built-in in FrontView - it amazes me. Let me remind you that it's 2012.

- DnsOMatic - didn't work for all hosts (as promised) and used dum constant updates and we got warnings from DynDNS etc.
DynDns - the old one, might work, never worked for me.

- boogermeAspirantI obviously edited them just for publicly posting the config here. :D
I was also not use if the correct login is just "username" or "username@myemail.com", I tried both but again it doesn't seem to work.
also, can you shed some light about the commas at the end of each entry, before the backslash? in which entries they should be used?
thanks! - WhoCares_MentorWell, it's not as obvious as you may think ... anyway, the commas should be on the end of each statement. The backslash just tells the interpreter to read the next line as a continuation of the previous one. Or in other words: Build a single line of arguments out of the block.
-Stefan - boogermeAspirantAlright, thank you.
so, my config should be correct, right?
as I said the DNS hosts works, the only problem is that it doesn't check/update the IP address and I have to manually update it (through no-ip web interface). - boogermeAspirantany other help? thanks.

Dewdman42 wrote: That being said, I also got an email from no-ip.com today saying that I have to manually click on a weblink once a month to keep the free account active. What a pain. I'm not sure why that is the case, could be that ddclient does not try to update it unless the ip changes, or something of that nature.
So two questions for everyone,- Does anyone know how to make ddclient force an manual push to the provider once a month or so, in the case when the ip has not changed?
- Does anyone know which FREE provider does not have this annoying manual requirement once a month?
Same here. I've tried numerous different settings with DDClient on the Netgear NAS but it never works. - etonLuminaryNO-IP - Why is my host not updating or why is it pending deletion?

- SandsharkSensei - Experienced UserI'm looking to move away from the no-ip DUC running on Windows so I don't have to leave that machine running when I'm traveleing. Thought ddclient was the answer till I found this. I found this information in a non-ReadyNAS blog that might help:
Use 'server=dynupdate.no-ip.com/nic/update' instead :-)

Haven't tried it because I've not installed ddclient. Thought somone who has previously tried and failed could see if this is the solution. - etonLuminary

Thanks. I've been using that one for a while, but I guess I will get the expiration notice anyway.
