HeadPhones 0.1.1 GUI port conflicts with Transmission...

Just a heads up really. But both add-ons run their web interface on port 8181.

Easy enough to change transmission's port if your not running the "reverse SSL proxy" mod mentioned elsewhere on this site, but as I am, i'm going to have to dive into headphones' configuration files and see if I can change it's port to something else.

WhoCares, any chance of altering the port of your add-on for other people in the same boat?

:)

    Just a guess: start by looking in the relevant file in /etc/frontview/apache/addons/
  • Thanks for that mdgm. The folder has "aliases" for all the add-ons i'm running.

    As a side note, assuming I wanted to set up a share to host some static HTML pages as a kind of front page to users accessing services hosted on the NAS from remote locations, i.e: me, I would just need to create a new alias like those already in that folder to point to the share from which I wanted to allow access?

    For example, wordpress is installed to webroot, but I don't want to set the webroot folder as my HTTP target on the NAS, so with that in mind i'd need to set up an alias pointing to it from elsewhere?
  • That folder has nothing to do with configuring the Headphones application - the files you see enable Frontview to show the addons in its' configuration page.

    To create an "alias" for your Wordpress install - create a .conf file in that folder with contents such as:

    Alias "/wordpress" "/c/webroot/wordpress"
    <Location "/wordpress">
    Options FollowSymlinks -Indexes
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    DirectoryIndex redirect.html index.html index.php
    </Location>

    Restart the HTTP service and you should be able to access your site at: http://ip.address/wordpress
  • Excellent. Thanks for the help sphardy, that clears up that problem at least.

    :wink:
  • Hi, Beats pro, sound was more life like or natural sounding and I am also very close to buying one of these units here http://audiosolutions.net.au/sydney-aud ... wievs.html they have it on special price.

    Sorry for being late to reply. Actually what's the problem with just clicking on the 'settings' link in HeadPhones menu bar and changing the port to whatever suits you best? Does the setting not stick? The only downside to this would be that you can't use the 'Use HeadPhones' link from within Frontview's add-on page anymore but otherwise all should be fine. Of course the standard port could be changed in a future version of the add-on but I don't think this change warrants a new release.

  • You are right WhoCares. Wasn't aware at the time of making that post that the port could be changed from within the GUI. Another knee-jerk reaction to a problem. The issue for me was that because I already had Transmission running, I couldn't get the add-on to start to see that there was an option to change it's running port. Obviously stopping transmission, starting HeadPhones, THEN making the change would of solved the issue. Like I say, knee-jerk reaction. Apologies.

    :)
