Plex transcoding
First, this add-on is great, thanks to the devs for putting it together! It works flawlessly for most audio and for streaming SD video. I'm running into a bit of an issue with transcoding HD video. The playback device pauses every 7-8 seconds during playback. I don't think it has to do with network throughput because it still happens with the bitrate set to the lowest option in the client, and because SD transcoded streams run without any problems.
When I SSH into the NAS the ffmpeg process doing the transcoding appears to be maxing out a single core, and I always have about 40% of the CPU unused. Should ffmpeg already be running multithreaded or is there some configuration that needs to be done to enable threaded transcoding?

- virotAspirantAs I just posted in (http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=56179) it fills my /
if you run the command 'df' how is the use % of /?
When the / gets full the plex video starts getting jerky as the transcoding cant save to the tmp directory - shpxnvzAspirantThanks for the heads up. I saw your post too and checked it out on my NAS in case I was having the same problem. In my case it writes to the /tmp directory but never gets above 13% full or so, probably because it's transcoding down to a pretty low resolution so the resulting files are small.
- virotAspirantYes, but remember that /tmp is part of the 5GB / volume not your big one:)
- shpxnvzAspirantYes indeed! If you find out how to change the temp directory location I'll be doing that too. But at least for now, while transcoding, I've got 67% free space on the root volume, and the transcoded video segments are all under 2MB (the client is a tablet so it's going to a low resolution/bitrate). It chugs along and the utilization of the root volume never changes appreciably.
