Renaming a NAS causes Replicate a lot of grief

Hi All,

Well here's my latest problem - hoping I can get some very much needed assistance.

The situation is this

a) I have two ReadyNAS units, a 516 and a Pro 6

b) I'm running replicate to replicate from the 516 to the Pro 6 (Pro 6 is the backup)

c) their names are XXXXX (Pro 6) and XXXXX_Newbie (516)

so I set up replicate and all sems to be well (replication occurring as it should - life is great)

Then I rename the XXXX_Newbie NAS to YYYYYY (System setting on the NAS)

Now in replicate I see (via network page)

i) XXXX_Newbie (offline) and XXXXX (online) but no YYYYYY in the list !?!!!

II) the replicate job is still there and apparently runs !?!!!

so I cannot "see" the 516 (now renamed YYYYYY) nor know if it is online

replication works (apparently - job runs) but I have no idea how to monitor it !?!!!

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

shoei

    Hi shoei,

Have you unjoined the said ReadyNAS (516) unit in the ReadyNAS replicate portal by clicking the "Remove" button? You also have an option in the device admin page to disable all ReadyNAS services (ReadyCLOUD, ReadyNAS Replicate and ReadyNAS Remote) under the cloud tab then re-enter your login credentials.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards,

I don't think actually renaming causes a problem. This is because when you first activate Cloud services, your ReadyNAS registers a specific username in the server. Changing your host name has no effect on that username unless you factory default. For anyone having issues like this, try rebooting your system and try again as there might be a service that is not pleased.
