Unable to view jpg from ipad
On the ipad I have the RN Remote app and can successfully connect to the Nas and view the files. I am unable to view jpg files or even download them to the ipad. Is there anything I need to do, in order to view the files?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

- dougiemooneyAspirantGot a similar problem with ReadyNas Remote on Android.
Can download from my shares. However, if the file is named with an uppercase extension (.JPG) when trying to view the file it returns an error saying its not a valid PDF file.
Lower case .jpg files open in the Gallery application without any problem. - ajst2dukAspirantExactly same problem here
- cygeneratorAspirantSame problem with iPad app version 1.5.6:
I have access to my readyNAS Duo v2 and can see the shares and even the files in there. But if I want to have a preview of a file (for example of a pdf), a message in the middle of the sceen tells me that the "Preview is not available, please press the view icon at the top menu to see the contents of the file."
If I do so (pressing the small loupe in upper right corner), nothing happens. The same behaviour occurs when pressing the download button beside. :?
I don't know if it makes a difference, but this concerns only the iPad app in my LAN. The iPhone app works perfectly in my LAN environment and access from outside the LAN is also no problem.
So where might be the bug? Is it an app-related issue or do I have to change something in the settings of the NAS itself (obviously not as otherwise the iPhone couldn't get access). Is there a setting in the iPad that has to be considered???
Any help or idea would be highly appreciated!!! - cap1AspirantWe will look at this issue.
Thanks. - Mace_WindooAspirantHi everyone,
Those of you who are currently experiencing the issue previewing and downloading files from the iOS client on iPAD, can you please share which version of iOS you are currently running? (Settings > About > Version)
Thanks. - cygeneratorAspirantFirst of all thanks for your quick reaction! I was already worried nobody would take notice of the problem...so thumbs up! :)
Okay, lets see what version of iOS is running on the iPad...
It's 6.1.3 (10B329). Im not sure if this appendix in brackets (10B329) is important for you, but I want to avoid a lack of information.
Hopefully you'll find the source of this problem. Thanks again for taking care of it!!! - Mace_WindooAspirantHi cygenerator,
I reproduced the issue on an ipad. However, once re-installing the app I wasn't able to reproduce it again. Can I ask that you remove the app (uninstall) and then re-install the app again.
Also, if you are looking to view images, I also recommend using our "ReadyDLNA App" for iOS. You must enable dlna on the share for this to work and it shows thumbnails of images in your shares and streams video media aswell. - cygeneratorAspirantHi Mace Windoo,
I tried the steps you suggested, but the result is disappointing, because I didn't get the expected success. :(
First of all, I removed the remote app, restarted the iPad and the re-installed the app - same situation: no preview for pdf and jpg-files and also no possibility to download them. Then I installed the readyDLNA app, to see what's the status on viewing jpg-files. Result: the app tries to get a connection since minutes and isn't obviously able to establish it (the NAS itself is connected in the app, but the access to the folder(s) is (are) not possible).
On the other hand I'm glad that at least once you were able to reproduce the problem. So you could get an impression how annoying this issue is.
What could be the next step? Is there anything else you'd suggest to check (maybe also inside my LAN/NAS/iPad) or do you need some more informations/descriptions? - Mace_WindooAspirantHi Cygenerator,
We are still working on the reproduction of the issue you first experienced. I haven't been able to successfully reproduce again after re-installing the app.
As for ReadyDLNA. Did you enable DLNA on the shares you are trying to access? - cygeneratorAspirantYes, ReadyDLNA as well as DLNA for one folder is activated. SMB, AFP and FTP is also turned on for this share.
I doublechecked the behaviour of the ReadyDLNA app on the iPad. Same situation: the logon is successful and the NAS is shown. When I select my NAS to see the shared folder, the app shows "Connecting" with the small rotating symbol for several minutes, then the app crashes and terminates itself (if I unlock the locking screen of the iPad, the app disappeared and I have to restart it).
