the error messages have changed in 4.2.22 as far as i know.
it reports now far more smartvalues than before where it only cared for reallocated sectors and ata errors.
the values it reacts now on are critical ones that may not necessary mean your drive is dead (like the spin retry count), but you would certainly be wise to keep an eye on all the drives that are throwing these errors. on some drives this may be caused my crappy drive firmwware that reports false values, but in general you can say that the nas wont report them unless they are running out of spec. a disk that fails to start repeatedly is by no means in good condition and the nas just tells you that.
