4200v2 OS6 running hot
Hiya, recently obtained a 4200v2. Upgraded to OS6, and everything is running just fine.
The only problem I can find is that the x3450 CPU reports that it's running warm. At idle it's fine, 30degrees or so.
However when I run a Plex Transcode and it hits 6 cores hard, the temperature appears to climb to 100 degrees. The hardware alarm starts to bleep, and the red warning light flashes on the front panel. The readynas UI seems sluggish to update, but does eventually show the high temperature. The temperature in the UI matches that reported by the linux package 'senors' which I installed.
I've reseated the CPU cooler twice, and reapplied paste - thinly.
Any suggestions for what to do next?
Refitted the CPU cooler for about the 4th time, and this time used even less paste. Seems like the X3450 is quite sensitive to the amount of paste used. Now running much cooler.
Still having issues with the ReadyNAS UI/frontview updating the fan speeds & temperature often enough. It's not sluggish, but it's just not refreshing very often.

I should add that it's all as clean as a whilstle inside, and there's no way the CPU fan could be fitted backwards (at least looking at the shape).

Unfortuantely, the OS6 fan settings for the 4200V2 are less than ideal. Even on the Cool setting, mine often hits the 75°C warning temperature about the same time the fans finally spin up to cool it down when running something that is CPU intensive. And then it throttles it back down and lets it rise again. Clearly, the thresholds and hysteresis are poorly chosen, but I don't know how to adjust them.
