6.2 is available! Yay! Questions...
So, I see that OS 6.2 is not available for our devices (I have a 516)... Is there any type of documentation beyond the release notes? I clicked on a file I'd like to share, and don't see a link option in the web-gui. I'm probably overlooking something very simple.
Second question is more to do with the actual workings of the ReadyNAS. I recently performed a factory reset (a few days ago) and was just about to start loading my data into the machine when I got the notification for 6.2. Is there any benefit to doing the factory reset again, since I've already got everything backed up and ready to go? or since it was clean when I updated, no apps, no data, no nothing... should I be fine just leaving it as the updated 6.1.9 to 6.2 with no factory reset?
Those questions asked... Everything is looking awesome in 6.2 thus far!

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can download 6.2 from the forum link (not the beta). It wasn't coming from the update server this morning.
On the reset - what firmware are you running now? - x219cLuminaryMine hit my 516 frontview just about an hour ago (that's when I saw it, anyway)... I clicked update, and it's now running 6.2. I had previously been on 6.1.9, and had just done a factory reset. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to do another factory reset now that I'm on 6.2 and there's so many new features, or would I just be wasting my time.
- vandermerweMasterI've not heard anything suggesting that a factory default on 6.2 is necessary.

Correct. There was a recommendation that it should/could be done back around 6.1.5 for best performance.vandermerwe wrote: I've not heard anything suggesting that a factory default on 6.2 is necessary.
However no suggestions that is needed for 6.1.9 to 6.2. - bob_m10AspirantIs the general recommendation to wait on 6.2 for a few days to see if any bugs arise or to immediately update? MY NAS went into production today so a bit hesitant to apply a firmware upgrade? Thanks Bob
- vandermerweMasterI'd upgrade, there will be bugs; serious ones will have been detected during testing.
I'd be more concerned if you don't have a backup, than about intrinsic firmware problems. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retiredx219c for a new setup with no data loaded yet, I would do it before loading data on even though it is not necessary. It doesn't take long. I would recommend this more so for the 100 series where snapshots are off by default in 6.2.
bob_m10 you can choose to wait a few days if you really want to. 6.2 has undergone extensive testing both internally and externally, and I would strongly recommend this update for all users. As always it's s good idea to make sure your backup is up to date. - x219cLuminaryThanks guys! I just went ahead and factory reset 6.2, since it's empty anyway... It's now rebuilding the data volume. I switched it to RAID 6, so it's got a 22 hour turnaround, I guess. Thanks for the help guys!
- x219cLuminaryOh yeah! Just an FYI... I did the factory reset, and when it got to the point of asking me to press the "OK" button on the front of the nas, nothing happened in the browser. It just sits there like the button was never pressed. When I actually went to the ip address for the NAS, it had, in fact, worked. It then allowed me to set it up. I was using chrome on a mac, but there could be a breakdown for setting it up or something. As a brand new user, I may not have known to just go to the IP. I basically sat there trying the discover button over and over again, then re-entering the info to no avail until I went around it.
- vandermerweMasterYes I've had a similar issue since upgrading. If I try to connect to ipadressofnas/admin using raidar, I just get the splash screen, if I remove the admin part it connects.
Something has changed. Readycloud access works though so not a big deal.
