6.9.0 firmware update

since the update was installed - my NAS is continually showing activity on the discs.

before update the unit remained quite and silent for the majority of the time. it is now chuntering away continuously and the activity light is continuously flashing.

the noise is getting annoying!

there is no indication in logs or anywhere else as to what is actually occurring.

also I cannot no access the operating system using tty access to see what base operating system is doing... it no longer accepts my admin password as before.

Disable "File Search" on the GUI System/Overview tab I guess

Are you remembering to login to SSH as the user 'root', not 'admin'?

  Was remembering that, but was forgetting to use 'root'. That part all ok now thanks.

    O.K. now that you're in have you checked the output e.g. of
    
    # top
    
    to see if a process is using lots of resources?
