Admin and password not working after chaning Workgroup Name

Hi guys,
I currently have a 2 TB external hard drive which is connected to my Netgear WND4500 router. I also have my READYNAS 314 connected to my router as well. Everything was working fine.

I couldnt see my ReadyNas via my HomeGroup network I just setup so I investigated and read the following solution from this forum.

windows not showing ReadyNas name in network

In the solution it advised changing the workgroup name from VOLUME to HOMEGROUP which should resolve the issue.
I made the change and clicked authentication as instructed.
I noticed that the workgroup name capitalised automatiically from Homegroup to HOMEGROUP.I closed down the browser(CHROME) and proceeded to check my windows folder with no luck.

I had several windows opened and commenced closing them down when I saw an authentication login window. I pressed it several times to close then proceeded to close with blank admin and blank password.
About 10 minutes later I returned to my browser to access READYNAS but admin and password failed to login - I have them stored in my browser and usually I type it in, now neither of them works. I've tried several times but it will not allow me access.

Shortcuts to the READYNAS drives and other devices configured to access the READYNAS still work OK but I cannot login to my READYNAS via the browser.

I did manage to try a page in CHROME history and have attached the images.

It tired to connect and then gave me an offline view - see attached photos.

But it couldnt connect eventually timing out and advising I contact Netgear Support.
I've tried logging in with my correct admin and password as well as the defualt admin and password but unfortunately no joy.

Any ideas on
1. how to resolve the admin and password issue (untra important)
2. why the workgroup name - capitalised? (Nice to have)
Is the reason my Homegroup network cannot see my ReadyNAS becuase it is capitalised as HOEGROUP when it is defined in Windows as Homegroup?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

The suggestion was to change the workgroup name to WORKGROUP (if this is the name of your workgroup). It needs to be the same workgroup that your PC is in.

Did you change any other settings?

The Windows Homegroup is NOT the same as Windows Workgroup.

Hi, I didn't change anything else except the Volume Name.

      Then I pressed authorised.

      Any ideas??

The workgroup/homegroup stuff really doesn't apply to chrome, it's about SMB (windows file explorer) access.

You said you changed the volume name... Did you really mean the workgroup name?  There is no volume name on the authentication screen.

I suggest rebooting the NAS, and seeing if that resolves the admin GUI access problem.

You are using a very old version of ReadyNASOS. Probably never upgraded it?
