After upgrade ready nas nv[+] has been "booting" for 3 days.
Correction: it is sparc-based NV+.
I successfully replaced all 4 of my 500G drives w 2 t drives. After that they still reported being just ~500G in size. As per instructions, I rebooted and after many hours it reported the correct size. Then I rebooted for the second time in order to get the volume to resize. It has been 3 days. Has the expansion failed?
This is a sparc-based readynas nv[+]. Running the latest radiator - 4.1.10.
Is it time to do a factory reset? If so, how since it doesn't boot?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIs your data backed up?
- How of curiosity, are you running the stock RAM or did you throw a 1GB stick in your NAS?
4.1.10 seems to not like upgraded RAM. - jdupreyAspirantmy data is backed up. i ordered my nas w/ 1g ram installed. i've run the thing 24x7 for 3 years w/o problems.
- jdupreyAspirantJust a correction - it is the NV+.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you still under warranty? Also, did you buy it directly from Netgear (with the RAM upgrade)
- jdupreyAspirantalthough its hard to tell with the nas' fan running, I think I hear harddrives squirreling away in there. Is it possible that it is still shuffling bits around for the volume resize after 3+ days? I was almost at capacity w/ the original volume - ~1T.
- I believe there has been a report from a factory installed 1GB NV+ user also that after 4.1.10 update they ran into the never ending booting issue too.
See long thread about issue...

If it is indeed the same issue, you're in a tough spot because you don't have the 256MB RAM to swap out and see if it boots. And, your drives are probably not redundant. But at least you have a backup. - I would open an online support ticket to see if NTGR support could help out. Make sure to tell them you have 1GB RAM installed (hopefully factory installed and not vendor).
- Sorry, here is the long thread about the issue...

The previous thread was another user having the same issues. - jdupreyAspirantThanks for the info.
I bought it in 2007 so its not under warranty. I don't know who installed the ram, net gear or the vendor:
"RND4250 READYNASTM NV+ 1 TB GIGABIT DESKTOP NETWORK STORAGE (3 X 500 GB) 5 Year Warranty
Memory Upgrade=*1GB Memory Installed" -- I suspect the vendor.
I'm going to do a factory reset and hope that fixes the problem.. and also hope there were no gaps in my back up.
(I backed up everything using the usb connection, then copied it all to my mac - this alone took days to do. the usb backup was crazy slow, and reading the ext3 disk was not speedy either,=.)
