Audit File and Folder access?
Does the Readynas 3100 (file server) support auditing for folder/file access on a Windows 2003 Domain?

skeeboze, I'm not sure where you might have misunderstood that we would support full windows security auditing via CIFS, but that is not the case. While it is correct that such auditing is a business feature, we've never officially supported that over CIFS.
However if you were to create an iSCSI LUN, then have a windows system on your network connect to the iSCSI target and share that(having your users browse to shares on the windows box while the data actually resides on the iSCSI LUN), you will indeed have auditing support since the windows server will be able to treat the contents of the LUN as if it were just another local disk.
