Back to Ethernet

This has been my setup for some time:

2 near identical Windows 7 Pro PCs, connected to an ADSL router, networked.

A wireless router, connected from the ADSL router, with my ReadyNAS N C+ connected directly into the wireless router.

This has worked well, giving me access to the PCs and the NAS across the (3 unit) network.

(The wireless router had been used mainly to allow connection, wirelessly, to a laptop and a couple of tablets. No problems here)

I have decided to remove all wireless connctions and I have successfully setup the PCs to network through the ADSL router, with full Internet access.

Hitherto my NAS has been acessed through RADar to an address at 192.168.1.200 (which I seem to remember I set up using DHCP) but now when I plug it in to the ADSL router, I am unable to access it, although it shows up on the Network Map,
both PCs and the NAS are shown as having a "switch" between them and the Gateway.

I am unable to access Faceview through RADar to change any settings.

My questions then are:

1. How can I get into Faceview ?

2. Once there, what addresses etc.should I use to allow access through the PCs,
and have all 3 on the same network ?

3. Are there any other changes I should make to the settings?

Any help will be gratefully received.

The NAS is connect to the wireless router, not the ADSL?

Is the wireless router connected to the ADSL via one of the wireless router LAN ports, or via the WAN port? (Normally you would use a LAN port with this setup).
  • Thanks for your interest.

    I didn't make myself clear here - sorry !

I have removed all wireless completely from this setup, so a wireless router is not connected to the ADSL router and is no longer in use. I will have no use for wireless connections for some time.

I have sought a completely Ethernet connection between the two PCs - which I now have, and it is working perfectly.

I want to add my NAS to this Ethernet network, but when I plug it in to the ADSL router, I cannot access it. Probably due to the settings I used in it earlier in a wireless network.

I cannot access Frontpage through RAIDar to reset the connection. It goes to a page (at 192.168.1.200) but will not setup from there. I am at a loss to know what to do, and I don't want to corrupt anything so that I lose the entire contents of the NAS !

Strangely, it shows up on the Network Map in Win7 , Network Sharing Centre (clicking on "Show full map") where
both PCs and the NAS are shown as having a "switch" between them and the Gateway.

    Apologies for the confusion.

Ok. What IP address and subnet mask is the PC using?
