Backup Routine renders FrontView and Data on NAS inaccessible.

What NAS and what firmware is it running?

Version 6.4.1 - Firmware - update check reports no update needed.
Backup failed.
The following was on the status window: __percup_counter_add#20
USB device is not longer reportin under Volumes and cannot be accessed via start + run [nameofdevice]
Rebooted and device is now working with respect to accessing data and Frontview.

What brand and model is the USB disk?

No Apps running
Services as follows: SMB, AFP, ReadyDLNA, UPnp, HTTP, HTTPS
External USB 3.0 Drive: Fantom GFP3000EU3
The Backup drive was unplugged and reconnected and can now be seen in the Volume Listing. The backup did begin but did not complete. Some of the data was copied.
