  • Now I added a second WD60EFRX to the first one and had to see disappointed that the firmware will do the following if you make a factory reset via paper clip and pushing twice the backup button and using the paper clip again:

    - if you select X-RAID2: it will create a Raid1 in X-RAID2 over both physical drives (which is according to the manual)

    - if you select Flex-RAID and then Raid0 or JBOD: it will always create a Raid1 in Flex-RAID over both physical drives (which is not according to the manual)

But I would like to use the full 12 TB (2x 6TB) in one logical volume for data because I have another NAS for backing up the data. So I need no mirroring. Is there another possibility to force the device to do this? Via console?

What I will try out now is: only one WD60 in the NAS and then adding the second after the system has created one logical volume in Flex-Raid mode on the first physical drive. I think the system then will create another logical volume in Flex-Raid mode on the second physical volume WD60. I think I saw it before.

In X-RAID mode adding the second WD60 will lead in a Raid1 in X-RAID mode (according the software manual). So this will not help.

    has anybody an idea?

The configuration in the last post was done with Raidar 6.3.0. I think this version is faulty!

Because with the old version of Raidar 4.3.8 the configuration was good: selected Flex-RAID with Raid0 and now one logical volume over 10,9 TB with two physical WD60EFRX!

Yes, you need to use RAIDar 4.3.8 to enable FlexRAID on a legacy NAS.
